Trendy Person vs. Stylish Person

I've always wondered exactly what the difference was. While doing "research" for this post (a.k.a. looking at Urban Dictionary) I found some interesting definitions that people had for both style and trendy people.

1. style

Noun: The basic defining characteristics of a person, everything from talk, dress, hairstyle, demeanor, etc. Few people have their own style which usually makes them unique, while most go with whatever is the "in" thing at the time.

1. trendy person

A trendy person is someone who is down with the latest fashion and style.

So, according to these definitions, your personal style says more about you than just the way you like to dress. It's the look, the aura, that you give off. Now this might only be Urban Dictionary, but it seems pretty accurate to me. And the second part that states "few people have their own style, they go with whatever is in" coincides with the definition of a trendy person.

But what exactly does that mean? That we're not stylish if we follow trends ('case we are all guilty of that)?

I don't think so. I think being stylish has a lot to do with knowing which trends work for you. Basically, wearing the clothes, instead of the other way around.

Thanks for reading, and please let me know what you think.

Lola.

  2. Awesome post, I totally agree with what you say.
I mean some people are trendy but just not stylish you know? Style is also in the way you walk and talk.
